The BME100 is a ranking of financial institutions licensed and domiciled within the Middle East region. To be included in this ranking an institution must have its head office based in the Middle East and be regulated by one of the region’s central banks. Every year Q2 we undertake a study of published audited financial reports from banks in the region.

To accurately assess the performance of a financial institution we collate the following data from all institutions:

  • Assets
  • Liabilities
  • Income
  • Net profit
  • Return on assets
  • Return On Equity

We then calculate the year on year growth in US$ and % terms, in total measuring all financial institutions across 18 different finance measures. This data allows us to rank financial institutions in each of these measures and create an overall ranking for financial institutions in each country an across the region.
